ACTIA has become a member of the Newspace Factory group. Founded in 2018 by Aerospace Valley, the group brings together complementary skills. ACTIA wishes to help develop and promote French expertise in the field of international New Space by providing its industrial capabilities, product approach and heritage in the field of satellite communication systems.
“Joining the Newspace Factory group is a key step in the development of our space business. We are convinced that our industrial expertise, combined with that of the other members, will let us join forces and offer relevant solutions to meet the new challenges of the international space market.”
Explains Alexandre Lachaise, ACTIA’s Aerospace & Defence Business Unit Director.
Contributing to the influence of French expertise in New Space
Over the past several years, ACTIA has asserted its relevance in the New Space market. The group recently raised €800,000 in funding from BPI France for its ACTIA In SPACE development project, a project funded by the government under the France 2030 plan. Link to press release
By joining the Newspace Factory, ACTIA, which is already involved in the entire space industry value chain, intends to contribute to the development of the New Space market through stronger collaborations, in particular by jointly addressing international markets.
ACTIA has high ambitions in the international New Space market. With its expertise in critical embedded systems engineering and a proven industrial base in its historical automotive and aeronautics markets, the group wishes to develop its space business in new geographical areas, particularly in North America. With production facilities on American soil, the group has the capacity to meet the industrial needs of local customers and thereby support the development of the Newspace Factory members on the continent.
A new approach to the space industry
ACTIA has been supporting the major players in the space industry for 50 years. Today, ACTIA’s activities extend from the ground segment to the space segment. With a comprehensive offering and already more than 1,000 items of equipment and systems deployed on the ground, as well as 15 million hours in orbit, the group is a preferred industrial partner of the space industry players.
From ground to space:
- On the ground: power amplifier, SATCOM terminals and monitoring systems.
A pioneer in Europe in the design and development of power amplifiers, ACTIA has extended its expertise to designing satellite communication stations, monitoring and integrating complete turnkey ground systems.
- In space: off-the-shelf electronic systems and production capacity in terms of volume. ACTIA offers the space industry both its expertise in designing embedded systems and its highly-certified industrial base, embodied by the Colomiers plant, recently awarded the “Usine Vitrine du Futur” (Showcase Factory of the Future) label and also a leading European EMS plant obtaining NADCAP certification in 2008.
As a member of the Newspace Factory, ACTIA will take part in the 38th Space Symposium, which will take place from 17 to 20 April in Colorado Springs, USA.
