Innovate

Since its creation in 1986, ACTIA's spirit of innovation and the supporting policies have enabled the group to stay a step ahead in our activity sectors. As a pioneer in electronic diagnostics and multiplexed electrical architecture for vehicles, ACTIA drives innovation in its business lines to offer customers high added-value functions. ACTIA is thus able to maintain its independence and leadership.

With an annual investment in Research and Development of 12-14% of annual turnover, and a workforce of more than 800 engineers and technicians worldwide, ACTIA places innovation at the heart of its dynamic, both when developing new products & services and when fine-tuning its processes.

In its skills centres present in 15 countries, ACTIA sets up human resources, expertise and the means for designing and adapting its on-board products and systems as close as possible to its markets and customers in the automobile, HGV, railway, satcom and energy sectors.

The group handles the design, production and sustainability of complex products and systems, bringing together electronics, embedded software and mechatronics. With production in its own plants, ACTIA enhances its expertise by implementing guidelines for design manufacturability and testability (DFM, DFT) throughout the circuit-board design process.

Implementation of high-performance processes and methods such as Automotive SPICE, CMMI, a hybrid process using the agile method for software production (software factory) in continuous integration to develop high-quality software.

Innovation
ACTIA works with various laboratories and other manufacturers worldwide to develop innovative systems and contribute to developing the products of the future. ACTIA is a founding member of IRT Saint Exupéry and a partner in the Fahrenheit Toulouse thermal innovation platform. ACTIA is also a partner to various schools and universities in France, Sweden, Germany, etc., and is involved in several advanced R&D programmes as part of its Open Innovation approach.

The group is also present in numerous standardisation bodies in line with its business activities to contribute to developing standards.

Embedded electronics
This area of expertise involves developing products and systems, with electric and electronic architecture for embedded applications, in fields of use whose constraints we all know. Our position is to propose solutions that are optimised in terms of performance-for-money value by using the most recent electronic component technologies. We also offer reliable, open and progressive software solutions that ensure the expected functions in any environment.

Using our methods and tools, our teams offer solutions that include functional safety (SIL, ASIL) and know how to take a "model-based" approach.

Electric drive
ACTIA develops electric drive systems chains and batteries for light, utility and commercial vehicle. Implementing comprehensive expertise in systems architecture, mechatronics design, power electronics with embedded engine control laws and high-voltage DC/DC converters, ACTIA is an authority in the electric drive field.

With more than 10 years of experience and research programmes on battery technologies, ACTIA designs systems that maximise the reliability and longevity of the battery pack, even under harsh temperature and use conditions.

Telematics
ACTIA is a major player in both on-board (computers) and off-board telematics solutions, offering solutions for fleet management.

ACTIA provides its customers with comprehensive and innovative solutions that integrate communications technologies from the cellular field (2G, 3G, LTE), Wi-Fi (11n, 11ac) and Bluetooth Low Energy as well as the latest standards such as the V2X.

Through its long-standing activity in these areas, ACTIA has developed its offer of technological platforms based on architecture that combines compactness, computing power (ARM multicore, Intel Atom), low energy (battery), GNSS precise point positioning, antennas, etc.

With expertise in embedded software running LINUX or AUTOSAR, GENIVI environments and Android, ACTIA has developed the ACTIA Connected Platform. ACP is the open platform that can be used to enhance applicative functions.

ACTIA brings specific expertise in vehicle architecture, telecommunications and safety to these areas by offering recognised know-how (ISO 27000, Common Criteria).

Diagnostics
The historic core of ACTIA's business; we design solutions that meet the needs of manufacturing plants as well as the after-sales market.

Covering a very large area of computer communication protocols and market standards (D-PDU API, ODX, etc.), our software enables us to address all automotive sectors, from light vehicles to industrial vehicles as well as buses and coaches.

Our solutions are available for hardware and software assemblies adapted to best meet the needs of our customers. This applies to both dedicated "industrial" platforms and market solutions that have been adapted/toughened to be used in "more challenging" environments. Likewise, we offer a large selection of communication boards for communicating with the vehicles - USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or cellular - to be used by in-garage diagnostics or embedded in the vehicles.

In the case of embedded interfaces, the vehicle diagnostics and other strategic information are sent to a secure private Cloud. As part of its service offer, ACTIA provides users with a dedicated site for viewing and using the data. A few examples of implemented technologies: HTML5, MongoDB

To develop the garage of the future, ACTIA has combined garage diagnostics and equipment through its own connected garage to improve interfacing and centralise information.

SATCOM
ACTIA designs products and systems for SATCOM telecommunications. This activity combines expertise in high-power RF amplification (up to kW) in all frequency bands allocated to satellites, either in a solid state (SSPA) or a tube (TWTA).

As a station designer, ACTIA combines system know-how with recognised expertise in designing stations that integrate all carrier sub-systems (tow system, shelter, box), antennas, RF sub-assembly, baseband and networks. Use of CAD techniques, both in hyperfrequencies and in mechanical design (thermal, vibration, etc.), enables rapid and reliable design that complies with the sector's strict specifications.

Energy
ACTIA designs products and systems for command and control of power networks.
With a thorough understanding of communications standards (HNZ, IEC, etc.), ACTIA implements software... on dedicated platforms developed for dedicated transformation substation environments.

Display, screens, MMI
ACTIA designs a wide range of screens of all sizes with functions including display, man machine interface running Linux / Android or in an Embedded Wizard environment, touch screens, HD display, usable in bright sunlight, etc.

These screens are part of the cluster and dashboard ranges with mechatronic integration and ergonomic analysis for operator control.

ACTIA is an expert in designing large-scale plastic parts, ensuring the stability of static, dynamic, thermal and UV loads and flammability, using reliable mechanical design tools to produce 3D renderings, for example.
